Hillary and the abortion issue.

Tuesday, February 28th, 2006

There is an excellent piece by Bruce Wilson about Hillary Clinton and her stance on abortion over at Renew America. He makes some valid points.

During President Clinton’s political career it was obvious he was using a different dictionary than the rest of America. You might recall two of the most memorable entries in the Clinton Dictionary:

sex-ual rela-tions, n. 1. as in “I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky…”

is, v. 1. as in “it depends on what the meaning of the word is, is….”

Recent events lead me to believe that Bill isn’t the only one studying the pages of the Clinton Dictionary. I think it has become a family heirloom.

Sen. Hillary Clinton has been widely quoted in the past few months stating that abortion should be “safe, legal and rare.” Most political observers believe that Hillary has shrewdly modified her pro-abortion record, reaching out to red voters as she prepares for a run at the presidency in 2008. Well, there is no doubt she is shrewd and is attempting to reach out to red voters. But red voters should be wary of accepting the extended hand. They are sure to find that sleight-of-hand is what Hillary really offers them.

Karl Rove obsessed with Hillary Clinton?

Monday, February 27th, 2006

We don’t think so, but obviously Hillary does.

“He spends more time thinking about my political future than I do,” Clinton said, noting that Rove and other White House aides have met regularly with her possible opponents in November’s 2006 Senate race….
“Karl Rove is a brilliant strategist. So, if I were thinking about this,” Clinton told WROW-AM radio in Albany, “I’d say why are they spending so much time talking about me?”

Because Hillary, he’s doing his job. As a Republican strategist, Karl Rove’s job is to figure out how Republicans can gain more seats in the Congress. And your seat, you know, the NY Senate one you spend so little time in, would be a feather in his cap if somehow a Republican could win. Of course there’s a chance you could lose, one that usually fluctuates between slim and none, but don’t let that bother you. You just keep raising all that money for the Presidential campaign you still say isn’t going to happen.

Clinton again Monday refused to be pinned down on whether she would run for the White House, repeating her mantra that she is completely focused on re-election this year.

Asked if it was unfair to New York voters to not tell them whether she might run for president in two years, Clinton said: “Any New Yorker who worries about what might happen in the future should certainly take that into consideration.”

Will Hillary pull a Bode in ‘08?

Saturday, February 25th, 2006

Now that Bode Miller has proven himself as the biggest flop in U.S. Olympic history, we can’t help but look toward Hillary Clinton. The similarities between the two are amazing.

Bode Miler was a young superstar who burst on to the alpine skiing scene with a flash. His track record of winning caught the marketing eyes of Nike, and they made him into a star. They gave him his own website and told the world to “Join Bode” and “Live the Bode way.” But everything he said in the weeks leading up to the Winter Olympics seemed to clash with the essential essence of an athlete. Then with each miserable failure in every single one of his events, the rationalizations and “Bodisms” afterward, proved that he was completely full of shit.

Bode may be a world class athlete, but he lacks the heart and fire to be a true champion. Nike has sold the American people a marketing bill of goods that is absolutely worthless. Why allow yourself to be touted as a champion, if you don’t intend to perform like one? We live in a winner take all world. You may not like it, but that’s a fact. Ask yourselves a question; “When you started playing games as a child, did you play to win?” Of course you did. We all did. When you play, play to win. So why does Bode’s failure make us wonder about Hillary? You never thought we’d get back on topic, did you?

Hillary is very similar to Bode. She has been rising young star in the Democratic party. She is gifted with all the political tools to win. She has the same type of corporate backing (hers being the Hollywood kind) and she has the website. Chances are she will crush the competition on the way to a victory in the New York Senate race; much the same way Bode crushed the competition on route to a World Cup championship in 2005. But will she have the heart of a champion to win the big prize in ‘08? Everything she is saying and doing goes against the true nature of her being. Her stances in the middle and right contradict her Leftist roots. Her base notices this. With her poll support among Democrats seeming to dwindle as the days go by, there seems only one chance for her. Stop her current strategy of appearing to be “middle of the road”, and swing back to her more natural state: The Left.

Hillary does not have the natural ability to stay in the middle and win. She doesn’t have her husband’s talent. Much the same way Bode does not have the same laze fair ability Alberto Tomba had. But will she put in the work necessary? Will she take up the mantle of the Left and run with it? Does she have the heart of a champion? Al Gore didn’t. John Kerry didn’t. We hope not. The thought of Hillary Clinton stepping onto the top step of the medal platform with her hand on a bible while ““Hail to the Chief “ plays is more than we could ever bear. We sure hope Hillary is a Bodeist!

Gays angry at Hillary, but not enough to vote differently.

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006

The Clintonistas who run her PR machine need to spin again for their girl. Hillary is pissing just about everybody off these days, including her base more and more. But when all is said and done, does it really matter? She will treat them like dogs, and they still will come back and lick her hand. The Democrats seem to know that it really doesn’t matter what they “say” to get elected. The fringe and special interest groups. gays and lesbians, and minorities just don’t seem to care how they are treated by the Dems. They flock back with blind support in elections. Why, we wonder? Maybe it’s just like a dysfunctional relationship, and all the voting blocks are merely enablers.

It seems NY’s Empire State Pride Agenda, one of the leading gay and lesbian activist groups in New York, is a bit peeved at Hillary’s stance on gay marriage. While they don’t want to have a fundraiser for her, they still want to support her.

In the February 10 email, marked “confidential,” Alan Van Capelle, executive director of the influential, well-funded Empire State Pride Agenda, says he’s refusing to “lend my name and sell tickets” to a gay-oriented fundraiser for Hillary’s reelection.

“Let me begin by stating that I believe Hillary Clinton has served the people of New York well in the United States Senate and that she deserves re-election,” he writes. “My vote for Senator Clinton will come despite her regrettable statements on the issue of marriage for same-sex couples and her current support for DOMA.”

What kind of hypocrisy is this? If gay marriage is a such a big issue, then why would gays and lesbians continue to support her? Obviously it isn’t. So would everyone just shut up about it now. Leave marriage alone, and go on with your lives.

Hillary Clinton’s poll numbers look good, no wait, they um…

Tuesday, February 21st, 2006

Hillary Clinton’s poll numbers are waffling more than John Kerry on a social issue. The Fox News poll (you can download the pdf here) from February 8th shows that 62% of Democrats would definitely vote for Hillary Clinton. It’s no secret that Hillary has over $17.1 million cash on hand. Her main NY State Republican challenger, John Spencer, has raised barely over 1 million. She’s sitting pretty right? Well, out come new numbers from a Hearst Newspaper survey over the weekend, and all is not so rosy in Chappaqua. This latest poll found that

– 44 percent of survey respondents now say that Clinton “should not run” for president in 2008 — up from 37 percent who felt that way last year.

–The percentage of registered voters who say Clinton “should run” slipped from 53 percent to 51 percent over the past year.

Combine this poll with Hillary’s earlier Gallup poll where 51 percent of Americans say they definitely would not vote for Clinton if she runs for president and an abysmal 16 percent say they are firmly behind her expected run and the bad news for Clinton and her supporters just keeps coming.

So who do you believe? The answer we believe is: Nobody. There is still way too much time before the march toward the White House begins. We firmly believe that the Clintonistas and all their Hollywood money will have Hillary firmly in the lead of ALL polls when it really counts. So, do not believe the voices of doom and gloom people. You remember Howard Dean’s lead over John Kerry don’t you?

Hillary not running for President

Saturday, February 18th, 2006

Well, that’s what Douglas MacKinnon over at The Weekly Standard believes. We couldn’t disagree more with his assumption. His basic premis is this:

I am here to say that Senator Hillary Clinton will not run for president in 2008. Guaranteed. Why? Because, from the Democratic party’s point of view, it makes no sense for her to run. I’m talking, none.

I am a Republican who happens to have a lot of Democratic friends. That’s the way it goes when you come from Dorchester, Massachusetts. And what most of these Democratic friends of mine tell me for private consumption is that their party is really, really, really desperate to win back the White House, and in their minds, for that to happen, Hillary Clinton has to get out of the way.

Their rationale, not mine, is that they don’t think enough Americans, especially American women, are actually going to vote for Senator Clinton in a general election.
full story

Although that rationale may make sense on the surface, consider who we are talking about here; Hillary Clinton, wife of slick willie Bill Clinton, the greatest spinmeister of all time.
The Clinton people, by the time the primaries roll around, will have convinced the Democratic base that Hillary is the true “savior” of the Democratic party. They will have her out in front of all the possible scandals, and you the voter will see numerous photo ops of a loving husband and wife. There is nobody better at whipping the Dems into a frenzy than Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton. a.k.a. “The 1st black President”, will make the rounds of every African American church to ensure that the minority base is hoodwinked again into believing that the GOP doesn’t care about minorities. He will travel to New Orleans, visit union halls and senior centers. Hillary’s people will let him do most of the talking, and the Dems will think they are voting for Bill again. Not a bad piece of “slight of hand” when you think about it.
Hill and Bill plotted and schemed to become the first Husband and wife Presidents a long long time ago. This has been their mission for 30 years. With the Republicans in seeming dissarry, the public split on Iraq, the allegations surrounding Tom Delay and others, there has never been a better chance for the Democrats to take back the White House. Unless Condi Rice decides to run, McCain or Giuliani will never get the Conservatives vote, there is nobody of any star value for the Republicans to offer up. Why on earth would Hillary give up her best shot at fulfilling what she believes to be as her destiny? Answer: she won’t!

Hillary Clinton in wax?

Thursday, February 16th, 2006

What’s worse than seeing Hillary’s smug persona in person? Try staring at that Chesire cat smile in wax. The people at Madame Tussauds’ wax museum have added a new exhibit to their horror section. Instead of depicting murder and death, they have envisioned Hillary Clinton winning the 2008 Presidential election. If that isn’t enough to give one nightmares, then we don’t know what is.

A life-size figure of the former first lady-turned-senator was set to be unveiled Thursday, complete with a campaign-style balloon drop, flags and a full-throated rendering of “Hail to the Chief.”

A Clinton figure had been on Tussauds’ visitor request list for “a long, long time,” museum manager Janine DiGioacchino said. But the looming Presidents Day holiday and the buzz surrounding Clinton’s possible 2008 presidential bid sped up her addition to the collection.

John Spencer comes out swinging at Hillary

Monday, February 13th, 2006

Well it seems the NY State Republicans have pulled their heads out of their asses and finally found somebody willing to go up against Hillary. After the debacle that was Jeanine Pirro’s campaign, it looked like the NY Repubs were simply going to fade into the night and concede the seat to Hillary. Not anymore. They have found their guy in former Yonkers mayor John Spencer. Hillary’s latest challenger for the US Senate seat from New York came out swinging on Monday to the state’s Conservative leadership.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s likely Republican Senate race challenger charged Monday that the New York Democrat’s criticism of the Bush administration “aids and abets our enemies” in the battle against terrorism.

John Spencer’s comments to reporters came after a fiery speech to the state Conservative Party leadership in which, during a defense of the Patriot Act, he also attacked the administration of former President Bill Clinton.

“I wish we had it before 9-11,” said the former mayor of Yonkers. “And, I wish we had an administration in Washington that wasn’t an appeasing, liberal, whining administration in the 90’s that allowed the terrorists to build up the way they built up.”

Full Story

This speech was obviously timed with his campaign unveiling its first commercial type ad. We haven’t fact checked it, so it’s view at your own risk. It does drive home a nice point though.

Meanwhile, the Spencer campaign unveiled a video advertisement that is running on its Web site. The ad attacks Clinton for her criticism of the Bush administration’s warrantless domestic surveillance program.

“I’m running for Senate because I won’t play politics with our security,” Spencer says in the ad.

Of course, nobody will see it anytime soon, because his campaign has almost ZERO money in. You can view it Here at his website if you like. It’s safe to assume that any publicity would help the fledgling Spencer campaign. Maybe, people might even start coughing up some coin if word gets out. Probably not in New York though. Our guess is, if Spencer’s campaign is going to get any cash infusion, it will come from Repubs outside the state. Time will tell on this one.

Is Hillary truly vulnerable?

Sunday, February 12th, 2006

Here’s an interesting piece from The Intellectual Conservative about “How to beat Hillary”.

Hillary has not moved to the middle, contrary to media reports, and she has failed to develop the leadership persona of her husband. Both of these vulnerabilities should be exploited by Republicans. Run a few television clips of Hillary Clinton droning on in her monotone, school-marm voice about “the children” or government healthcare.

We’re not sure we agree with some of the central tenants of the article, such as:

Hillary is generally a dislikable person. One never hears people exclaim, “I just love Hillary Clinton!”

Obviously the writer doesn’t spend much time in New York, but we’ll let that slide. The article does point out some interesting food for thought though.

There are other weaknesses of Hillary’s that can be exploited as well. Hillary has tried to position herself toward the middle since becoming a Senator. Or has she? The liberal group Americans for Democratic Action gave her a 95% rating in 2004, the same score as Barbara Boxer and socialist Representatives Jim McDermott and Bernie Sanders. The National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) gave her a 100% rating in 2003. Her 2004 rating from the American Conservative Union? 0. She was one of only 10 Senators to receive a score of 0. Other Senators receiving 0 included Ted Kennedy, John Edwards, John Kerry, and Joe Lieberman. Hillary’s lifetime rating from the American Conservative Union is 9%. This is lower than Diane Feinstein’s lifetime score of 11%. It is only slightly higher than John Kerry’s lifetime score of 5% and socialist Bernie Sanders’ lifetime score of 6%.

Give it a read HERE and decide for yourself.

Hillary’s sliding poll numbers

Friday, February 10th, 2006

No wonder Hillary has been so angry all week. Her poll numbers are sliding faster than the German bobsled team. We saw this tidbit over at our friends The Conservative Voice. Seems for all her efforts, the American people aren’t quite warming up to Hillary yet.

The latest Rasmussen Poll reveals that only 27 percent of Americans would vote for Sen. Hillary Clinton as president. A sizable number — 43 percent — said they would not vote for the junior senator from New York.
According to pollsters, Sen. Clinton’s numbers appear to be in decline with her support down by 11 percent since the previous Rasmussen survey.
